I agree with you. The most important ingredients in developing a solid long-term relationship is respect and trust. I was married for 29 years. It was a good marriage because we were best friends. But when he broke the trust, I realized I could not respect him. And without respect and trust, there cannot be the kind of love that will hold you together. Prenuptial agreements has always signified to me that there is a lack of trust in the relationship. Marriage is built on trust, love and respect for each other without that there is no relationship. It’s all about trust. Without trust a person still does not have any relationship. Ceremony or no ceremony. If marriage to a person is only just for business then drag up as many contracts as possible. It’s also a sign of selfishness. A person cannot be happy and selfish at the same time. But, if it is for love then I stand by what I said previously.

To go into a legal contract on trust is one of the stupidest things people do. It’s not about trust, it’s about being smart. With a more than 50% divorce rate, it is not smart to assume this one will work.
